Acer Aspire 7 (A715-51G): Full Specs

Design

The laptop comes in an aluminum shell, which gives it a premium feel. In terms of looks, we’ve seen this design before, but that’s not necessarily bad, per se. In fact, the chassis hides some clever tricks. When opened, the lid props up the backside of the laptop, giving more room for the cooling setup on the bottom to breathe. On the base, we’ve got a full-sized keyboard, which has a backlight, as well as a touchpad with a fingerprint scanner in the upper left corner. We’ve found that sometimes, scanners mounted in this way can interfere with the work of the touchpad, but so far Acer hasn’t had this issue. The aluminum keeps the laptop light and thin for its size, weighing around 2.10 kg and having a profile of 19.9 mm.

The port coverage of the device spans three USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI 2.1 port, which can supply a signal of up to 8K at 120Hz. There’s also a LAN port and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Display

The laptop offers two displays, both with a Full HD resolution and an IPS panel. The second one is sure as hell ready for gaming, thanks to the 144Hz refresh rate. In terms of color reproduction, Acer gives no specific information, but the laptop still supposedly has color temperature and accuracy adjustment through its software.

Specifications and features

The laptop offers two CPU options from the Alder Lake P-series, the Core i5-1240P and the Core i7-1260P. Both chips have 12 cores and 16 threads, while the Core i7 sports higher clock speeds and more cache, the latter of which can be very useful in heavier workloads and especially gaming. The chips won’t be a bottleneck for the graphics that we have here, including the GTX 1650 and the RTX 3050, both with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM.
