[Specs, Info, and Prices] GIGABYTE G5 (Intel 12th Gen) – Good specs for a good price

GIGABYTE’s G5 gaming laptops aren’t what first comes to mind when you think of affordable gaming devices, however, it’s hard not to acknowledge their existence when they offer good specs at low prices. Today’s G5 features the latest Alder Lake H-series CPUs, along with the RTX 30-series graphics, which are exactly what you need for 1080p gaming.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the GIGABYTE G5 (Intel 12th Gen).

The GIGABYTE G5 (Intel 12th Gen) is available now with a starting price of $899.99 for a configuration with a Core i5-12500H and an RTX 3050.

GIGABYTE G5 (Intel 12th Gen): Full Specs

Design

The laptop comes with a plastic chassis, which doesn’t give off “Gamer” vibes. If anything, with the sharp edges and rounded corners, it’s fairly subdued. The only clues to its gaming nature are the art on the lid and the base, as well as the heat vents. The GIGABYTE G6 is also quite portable, weighing only 1.99 kg and having a profile of 23.9 mm.

Display

There’s only one display available, with a FHD resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, which covers the needs of the budget gamer. There’s no info about the color coverage or accuracy, however, we don’t expect the G5 to be Creator ready.

Specifications and features

There is a single CPU option, which is more than enough for gaming. The Core i5-12500H has 12 cores and 16 threads, which is enough to handle even complex workloads like video editing and 3D modeling. For graphics, there’s the RTX 3050, RTX 3050 Ti, and the RTX 3060. The two 3050 GPUs have a 75W TGP, while the 3060 can go as high as 115W. While this isn’t ideal, it’s still better than what the IdeaPad Gaming 3 and the HP Victus series offer, which are in direct competition with the G5.

There is an RGB backlight, with 15 pre-programmed colors. The laptop comes with a MUX switch, which allows the discrete graphics to connect directly to the display, increasing performance, at the cost of some battery life. In terms of capacity, the battery isn’t the biggest, at 54Wh, so you will resort to using the charger at least once a day.
