[Specs, Info, and Prices] Lenovo LOQ 15i (15″ Intel, 2023) – A new (old) gaming venture from Lenovo

We’ve come to an end of an era. The last bastion of office/gaming computing, the IdeaPad Gaming 3i, has had it’s last hurray, with Lenovo discontinuing the series in 2023. However, that doesn’t mean that the devices are donezo too, as Lenovo is moving them to a new brand, LOQ. It’s supposed to be pronounced Lock, and offer a more entry-level gaming experience, as well as targeting esports gamers and competitors who don’t want to spend much to get competitive hardware. Today we have the LOQ 15i, a laptop with Raptor Lake H-series processors and RTX 40-series graphics. While it’s the more affordable Lenovo gaming laptop, it still comes with a big price tag, as is the case with many so-called budget gaming laptops.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo LOQ 15i (15″ Intel, 2023).

The Lenovo LOQ 15i (15″ Intel, 2023) is available now with a starting price of $1,214.99 for the Core i5 model with an RTX 4060.

Lenovo LOQ 15i (15″ Intel, 2023): Full Specs

Design

The LOQ 15i looks identical to the IdeaPad Gamin 3i from last year, which is great since we had no complaints about its looks. The only difference is the new LOQ logo on the lid, which mimics the positioning of the Legion logo on Legion laptops. We’ve got a fully plastic chassis with an extended backside and some blue accents around the heat vents. There’s only one color as of now, Storm Grey, but if Lenovo is smart, they would release a white version, which would absolutely kill it, especially with the shade of blue that they’ve picked.

The port selection on the laptops is split between the two sides and the back, with a total of one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a LAN port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The laptop also comes with up to a 230W power adapter, so the battery discharge issues that we were running into with previous incarnations of the IdeaPad Gaming laptops should not happen anymore.

Display

The display selection offers several panels that are ready for both gaming, as well as content creation if you’re into that sort of thing. Starting off, the base configuration offers a Full HD IPS panel with a standard 60Hz refresh rate, which is weird, as even last year’s IdeaPad Gaming 3i offered a 120Hz display in its base model. Thankfully, you can upgrade to a 144Hz Full HD IPS panel, which also has higher 350 nit brightness. Or, if you’re splurging for an RTX 4060 and want a higher resolution as well as a bit more color, there’s the QHD 165Hz display, which has 100% sRGB coverage. We also have to mention that both the 144Hz and 165Hz displays have Advanced Optimus as well as G-Sync support, which is nice to see from a more entry-level offering.

Specifications and features

There are four Raptor Lake H-series to choose from, with either the Core i5-13420H, the Core i5-13500H, the Core i7-13620H, and the Core i7-13700H. The ones with 20 in the name have fewer efficiency cores but still offer good performance. On the other hand, the 13500H and the 13700H are similar to the very popular 12500H and 12700H, respectively. For graphics, you can get the RTX 3050, RTX 4050, and RTX 4060. The 40-series GPUs have so far delivered excellent performance, with pretty big improvements over the 30-series. The 3050 and 4050 both have a 95W power limit, while the 4060 goes a bit higher, up to 115W. The device also brings a full-sized backlit keyboard, with either a white or a 4-zone RGB backlight.
