The new MSI GP73 Leopard mid-range gaming series – prices, specs, features and configurations

Yesterday we acquainted you with the MSI GL73 budget gaming series and today we move on with another selection of MSI products – the MSI GP73 Leopard. Today’s series is a successor to the MSI GP72 Leopard one, as you could tell by reading the name. Among the most notable differences, we notice that the new machines employ 8th Gen Intel processors, they are also a bit thinner, the USB Type-C port is now 3.1 Gen 2, which means faster data transfer speeds, and we are now looking at two instead of four loudspeakers but their power is greater.

Going through the most notable specifications, we must first mention what we have in store for the performance department. CPU-wise, there is only one choice – the Intel Core i7-8750H which is more than welcome as its capabilities grant it the 4th place in our Top Laptop CPU ranking. Graphics-wise we are looking at two options – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB GDDR5) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB GDDR5). Both cards offer sufficient performance for mid-range gaming and are great companions to the processor in question. What’s more, you can get up to 32GB of RAM for smooth multitasking, and up to 2000GB SSD + up to 1000GB HDD of storage.

Moving on to the screen section, you have a choice between a 17.3”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), TN and 17.3”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), 120 Hz, TN. Additionally, the 17-inch machine has a stylish aluminum chassis that weighs only 2.70 kg. The goodies continue with a beautiful backlit keyboard and a USB-C port. You can clearly see that this bad boy is one step up when compared to the MSI GL73, and that’s namely why we are looking at a starting price of $1349.

When it comes to competitors, there is the MSI GE73 Raider RGB 8R, ASUS ROG SCAR Edition GL703, Alienware 17 R5, HP OMEN 17, and the Acer Predator Helios 300.
