Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 4 (Intel) review – impressively snappy super light business notebook with some shortcomings

With the release of the Intel Alder Lake and Raptor Lake U-series processors, the smaller devices are the ones that get a noticeable performance boost alongside good battery life (if the manufacturer’s optimization is good). This is possible due to the chip architecture which includes performance and efficient cores.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 4 (Intel) is one of the machines that is offered with such processors because it’s a small 13.3″ business laptop meant for usage on the go. You can also configure it with a 28W P-series CPU but we decided to get a notebook with a 15W variant because it seems like the smart choice for a machine that weighs a bit over a kilo.

You can choose between four display 16:10 options, three are IPS models (one of them is a touchscreen) and the top version is a 2.8K OLED unit. That sounds great but a small chassis full of modern hardware leads to a not-so-pleasent price (or at least in most cases). Besides the compact form factor, the security doesn’t seem hindered but some of the important features are optional such as a fingerprint reader, IR camera, and vPro CPUs. You have to pay more for an Intel Evo-certified laptop (like the one we have for testing).
