[Specs, Info, and Prices] Meet the Acer Aspire 1 (A115-32) and Acer Aspire 3 (A317-53 / А317-53G) – the newest additions to the ever expanding Aspire family

The Aspire series is home to many (and we mean MANY devices). The lineup is ever-growing, with new laptops coming out nearly every month. Today we are here to talk about two new additions, the first of which is very affordable and is a great starting laptop, or an inexpensive daily driver, to check emails, watch videos, and other stuff.

The second one is a little more expensive, but it provides great hardware for the price, which can serve a variety of purposes.

Today we are taking a quick look at the Acer Aspire 1 (A115-32) and the Acer Aspire 3 (A317-53 / А317-53G).

The Acer Aspire 1 (A115-32) and the Aspire 3 (A317-53 / А317-53G) are available now with a starting price of $249.99 and $649.99, respectively.

Design

In terms of the design, both laptops are really similar, and just from the images, the price difference definitely can’t be seen. However, we are sure that if we get both laptops in hand, we will feel the difference, in the weight alone, and in the quality of the materials. We don’t have to be psychics to know that the Aspire 1 will be built entirely using plastic. However, we would hope that the Aspire 3 would get a metal lid. At this price range, the competition is quite fierce, so you need something to stand out, and build quality can definitely be that for Acer. In terms of weight and height, the laptops differ a lot, as the Aspire 1 weighs only 1.65 kg while being 19.9 mm tall. The Aspire 3 is a lot heavier (thanks to its 17.3-inch form factor), stopping the scales at 2.50 kg and being 20.9 mm tall.

Display

When it comes to the display options, both laptops offer similar displays (with the obvious size difference, of course). The Aspire 1 gets two 14-inch screens to pick from. The first one has a 768p resolution and uses a TN panel. Usually, we wouldn’t recommend it, but at this price, it’s completely fine. The other display bumps up the resolution to Full HD and uses an IPS panel, if you have that extra $$$, go for it. The Aspire 3 also gets two displays with a diagonal of 17.3 inches, the first of which also uses a TN panel but has a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. The second one has a Full HD resolution and uses an IPS panel.

Specifications and features

The specs in the Aspire 1 might seem uninspiring, but they are pretty great for the purpose of the device. There are two Celeron and one Pentium CPU to choose from. They come with their own iGPU solutions from the Jasper Lake family. The Aspire 3 gets Tiger Lake CPUs, with either the i5-1135G7 or the i7-1165G7. With them, you also get the Iris Xe Graphics G7, which are some of the best performing iGPUs in the world.

Both Aspire laptops are pretty lacking when it comes to features, but it still gets stereo speakers and a digital microphone, along with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 support.
