[Comparison] Intel Core i7-10875H vs AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS – the Ryzen 9 wins in the 3D test by 1% but is nearly 2 seconds behind the Core i7 when it comes to Photoshop

Comparing monstrous CPUs never gets boring, does it? That’s why for today we have a comparison between two companies that have had a rivalry ever since PCs became mainstream. Intel and AMD have been going at it for what seems to be tech’s oldest war.

Well, today we are having another comparison, another battle, between these two giants. In the Blue corner, we have the Intel Core i7-10875H and in the Red corner, we have the AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS. As you can see in our Top Laptop CPU ranking, both CPUs place in the Top 10, so you can be sure that this comparison will be a fierce one.

You can find out more about both processors here: Intel Core i7-10875H / AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS

CPU benchmark

The results were astonishingly close in our first test, which consists of 3D rendering in Cinebench 15, where the AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS took the win with an advantage of, wait for it, a whole 1%. Things took a different turn, though, when it came to our Photoshop benchmark, where the Intel Core i7-10875H was faster, with a lead nearing 2 seconds.

Results are from the Cinebench 20 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)

Results are from our Photoshop benchmark test (the lower the score, the better)

Conclusion

Such close comparisons don’t happen too often so we have to get excited when they do. Although the AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS won in our first test by 1%, it lost in our second test and with a difference of nearly 2 seconds, we believe that the Intel CPU is the overall winner in this comparison, since it performed so well in Photoshop, and while it lost in our Cinebench 15 test, the results were so close that you wouldn’t notice any difference if we didn’t tell you there was one. Plus, Intel’s architecture is still a bit better for gaming in the laptop world.

now measure consumption, battery and noise. intel is selling desktop cpus in laptops and media guys has no clue still. 100w is not good for a laptop, ok?
