[Specs and Info] ASUS Vivobook 17X (K3704) – Big notebook for big business

Raptor Lake is coming to devices other than gaming laptops, which is all well and good, cause business machines and daily drivers have the right to enjoy the latest components as well. The ASUS Vivobook 17X (K3704) comes with the second most powerful series of processor, the H-series, which combine a high core count with high power limits, to deliver the best possible performance for your video edits or any other intense work that you’re doing.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the ASUS Vivobook 17X (K3704).

ASUS Vivobook 17X (K3704): Full Specs

Design

The Vivobook 17X comes in two colors, either Indie Black or Transparent Silver. You get a metallic lid and a plastic chassis with the classic Vivobook features like the plaque on the back of the lid and the highlighted enter key. All in all, it’s the little things that put the laptop together. ASUS also integrates its Antibacterial Guard on the base of the laptop, which inhibits the growth of bacteria on the laptop by 99% over a 24-hour period. It uses Silver Ions, which is a popular method for giving products antimicrobial resistance. The chassis is also supposed to be durable enough to go through the MIL-STD-810H certification tests, having passed 12 of them, including being functional in temperatures of -51°C to 71°C, which is mental. In terms of dimensions, the laptop weighs 2.10 kg and has a profile of 19.8 mm, which is fine for a 17.3-inch machine.

The base houses a full-sized keyboard with a backlight, while the keycaps themselves are slightly dished, in order to fit your fingertips better. The touchpad has a fingerprint reader in the upper right corner, which shouldn’t interfere with the work of the touchpad if we’re to cite our previous experience with Vivobooks.

Display

ASUS offers only one display with the Vivobook 17X, with a Full HD IPS panel. It has a peak brightness of 60Hz and around 62.5% sRGB coverage. It’s not suitable for professional color work, but with the high-power output of the hardware that’s inside, you might as well bite the bullet and use the device for its raw power alone. Also, getting an external monitor might be a good option since most of them provide good color coverage, so you can still edit even if you’re on the go, but then come home and color grade on the monitor.

Specifications and features

The laptop is powered by three Raptor Lake H-series processors, with either the Core i5-13500H, the Core i7-13700H, or the Core i9-13900H. All of these come with a lot of cores and a 45W power limit, but we expect the chips to be able to go even higher, thanks to the IceCool Plus cooling solution, with two heat pipes and one fan. Since there’s only the CPU to take care of, we think the setup is adequate, as the iGPU is on the same die as the CPU. It’s the same Iris Xe Graphics G7 that we’ve had since 2021, with the next 14 Gen Intel chips introducing Arc-based integrated graphics.

The port selection of the Vivobook 17X comes with one USB Type-A 2.0 port, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, an HDMI 1.4 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
