日本More Ports on M4 Macs? New M4 SoC Shot Shows 2X More Thunderbolt Controllers
We stumbled upon a new image of the M4 SoC, so let’s compare it to a photo of the M3 SoC to see if there are any major architectural changes.
Long and behold, the SoCs look largely the same, however, the M4 has what appears to be 4 identical blocks that look and are placed in the same place as the 2 Thunderbolt controllers on the M3 SoC, which leads us to believe that the new M4 Macs could come with up to 4 Thunderbolt ports, which would be the most we’ve seen on any laptop.
We’ve already went ahead and turned the photo 90 degrees so you can compare them more easily. You can see the extra CPU efficiency cores in the middle, as well as the extra Thunderbolt controllers in the lower left corner.
