How to open ASUS TUF Gaming F17 (FX707, 2023) – disassembly and upgrade options

Opening the Device

  1. Undo the 12 Phillips-head screws securing the bottom panel. Note that the captive screw in the lower right corner will slightly raise the plate up, making it the best starting point.
  2. Pop the front, the left, and the back with a thin plastic tool. The right side should be last as it is full of ports and harder to pry.

More info: On the inside, the bottom plate features many plastic elements for greater internal structural support.

Battery Removal

  1. Unplug the battery connector from the mainboard.
  2. Undo the 4 Phillips-head screws securing the battery.
  3. Lift the battery to remove it from the device.

Note: The device uses a 90Wh battery, providing approximately 25 hours of web browsing or 9 hours of video playback.

Memory Upgrade

  1. Locate the memory slots covered with foil.
  2. Carefully remove the foil to access the SODIMM slots.
  3. According to ASUS, the two SODIMMs can handle up to 32GB of DDR4-3200MHz RAM in dual-channel mode. Some machines support up to 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz memory.
  4. Install new RAM modules if upgrading.

Note: The CPU can support up to 96GB, so the laptop likely wouldn’t have issues running more than the official manufacturer’s specified limit.
