[Specs and Info] Fujitsu LifeBook U7312 – We really like the design

The Fujitsu LifeBook U7312 really looks like a blast from the past, with its design that resembles the laptops of the past, while still abiding by modern design principles. It also uses modern hardware that will speed up your work, going as high as to offer the P-series CPUs, which will be bothersome to cool down inside such a small chassis. Nevertheless, judging by how much we liked the LifeBook U7512, we’re excited to check this one out as well, when it comes time for a review.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Fujitsu LifeBook U7312.

Fujitsu LifeBook U7312: Full Specs

Design

The LifeBook gets a magnesium chassis. It doesn’t look as modern as its ExpertBook or ThinkBook counterparts, however, the sturdiness and rigidity of it are unmatched. The anodized finish and gold paint job look quite good. On the base, you can see that the keyboard deck is black, with a red stripe running along the bottom edge. The lid comes with rubber feet on the back, which lift the base slightly, resulting in a more comfortable angle for typing, as well as more air going into the cooling setup. Thanks to the use of magnesium, the laptop is really light, weighing only 0.99 kg and having a profile of 18.9 mm.

The I/O of the machine is quite good, with two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0b port, a MicroSD card reader, an Ethernet port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. There are several optional additions, including a SmartCard reader and a NanoSIM slot. The 4G and 5G-enabled models also have an eSIM.

Display

There are two panels to choose from, with either an HD TN panel with a resolution of 1366 x 768p or a Full HD IPS panel. The TN panel has only 250 nits of brightness as well as a contrast ratio of 500:1. As for the Full HD panel, it has two configurations with either 300 or 400 nits of brightness and a constant ratio of up to 1500:1. Fujitsu hasn’t given details about the color coverage, however, we do expect the IPS panels to do so, considering the larger LifeBook U7512 has a good IPS panel.

Specifications and features

There are a lot of CPUs to choose from, from both the U-series and P-series. The laptop goes as high as the Core i7-1270P, which is Evo-certified. This basically means that it supports the fastest available standards for connectivity and data transfer, including Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6E, and more. You only have integrated graphics to choose from, however, that’s what you should expect at this form factor. The laptop supposedly has SODIMM slots for memory and offers up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. For storage, there’s one M.2 slot for up to 2TB of storage.
