[Specs and Info] Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) – Solid hardware choices make the laptop
The most affordable Lenovo laptop, the IdeaPad 1, is entering 2023 with a selection of hardware that includes the new Ryzen 7000-series processor, which combines CPU architectures of the past few years with the new RDNA 2 integrated graphics. This has so far led to efficient CPUs that still do great for laptops like this one, which doesn’t bring any high expectations in terms of performance. Its job is to offer a decent computing experience at a very low price point, which we think it can accomplish without a doubt.
Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023).
Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023): Full Specs
Design
In a classic budget move, the IdeaPad 1 comes with an entirely plastic chassis, which is okay. Its design looks awfully similar to the IdeaPad 3, which doesn’t boast the best structural support and rigidity, however, you have to make certain sacrifices to meet the desired price point. We still believe that you’ll be happy with it, as no one goes and bends the screen of their laptop on purpose. What we feel is more important is the portability aspect, as, at just 15.6 inches, the laptop weighs only 1.58 kg while having a profile of 17.9 mm.
The I/O coverage of the laptop consists of one USB 2.0 port, one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, one Type-C port of the same speed, an HDMI 1.4b port, an SD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack, which feels adequate.
Display
There are three display options available, with either a TN or an IPS panel. We recommend skipping the TN options entirely and going straight for the Full HD IPS panel. It brings much better contrast and colors, as well as wider viewing angles, which makes for a better sharing experience when you have multiple people looking at it from different angles.
Specifications and features
The laptop is powered by four processors. We kick off with the AMD Athlon Silver 7120U and the Athlon Gold 7220U, two dual-core chips. The 7220U boasts 4 threads, which should improve the experience, especially under Windows. Getting to the Ryzen part of the hardware, you can pick between the Ryzen 3 7320U, with 4 cores and 8 threads, and the Ryzen 5 7520U, with 6 cores and 12 threads, two Zen 2 processors which boast the Radeon 610M iGPU. With this hardware, you’ll breeze through daily use and workloads without a problem.
