[Specs, Info, and Prices] Acer Aspire 5 (A517-53/A517-53G) – It’s got drive, it’s got power

We like how most thin laptops can now offer powerful discrete graphics, since NVIDIA no offers variable wattage for its RTX 30-series, as well as having the RTX 2050, which is specially made for thin & light machines. Here we have the Acer Aspire 5 (A517-53/A517-53G), which uses a large display and has options for both powerful and efficient hardware, depending on what you’re looking for.

Today we’re going you a quick overview of the Acer Aspire 5 (A517-53/A517-53G).

The Acer Aspire 5 (A517-53/A517-53G) is available now with a starting price of $799.99.

Acer Aspire 5 (A517-53/A517-53G): Full Specs

Design

The laptop offers a good-looking chassis, with some design tweaks when compared to last year’s notebook. We’re certain that the aluminum lid stays here, but Acer would absolutely kill it if it were to offer a fully-aluminum device. Compared to last year’s laptop, this one is 400 grams lighter, coming in at just 2.20 kg, while having a profile of 19.9 mm, so despite the large footprint, things remain relatively portable.

Display

The display selection offers only one option, with a Full HD IPS panel. The weird thing is that Acer doesn’t share any info about it, not even brightness. If we were to look at last year’s 17.3-inch Aspire 5, the device doesn’t offer a Creator-ready screen, with only 53% sRGB coverage. While we can hope for a better panel this year, thanks to more powerful hardware being available, we don’t want to get too excited.

Specifications and features

There are several Alder Lake U-series CPUs as well as several Alder Lake P-series CPUs, so you have options on whether or not you want more performance or more battery life. The Core i5-1240P and Core i7-1260P offer great performance for video rendering and more intense workloads, while the Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U are better suited for daily tasks and some harder work here and there. For graphics, you can rely on both the integrated offerings, but we think that you would also like to have the RTX 2050, which is made for lighter laptops with Creator work in mind.

The port selection of the Aspire 5 comes with three USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI port, an Ethernet port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
