[Specs, Info, and Prices] Dell Latitude 14 5430 Rugged – Tougher than a Nuclear Football

While laptops are generally used in pretty safe spaces, offices, and homes, people need computers elsewhere. When you need computing power in a more dangerous place or where it can get easily damaged. This is where the concept of a rugged laptop comes in.

Acer has tried to implement it into the general-use market, offering the Acer Enduro Urban N3, which was a pretty nice little laptop. However, the Dell Latitude 14 5430 Rugged has the full durability package, including a briefcase-like lock, while being thicker than an Alienware laptop.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Dell Latitude 14 5430 Rugged.

The Dell Latitude 14 5430 Rugged is available with a starting price of $1,709.00.

Dell Latitude 14 5430 Rugged: Full Specs

Design

The Latitude 14 uses a multitude of materials. The lid and hinges are made from plastic and Carbon fiber, while the rest of the laptop is built from magnesium, a material known for both its durability and lightness. Despite the 33.6 mm thickness, the Latitude comes in weighing just a bit under 2 kg, stopping the scales at 1.97 kg. The Dell logo is present on the lid. The laptop can operate in a multitude of temperatures from -20°F (-28.8°C) to 145°F (62.7°C).

Display

The laptop uses a pretty standard FHD IPS panel. It comes with glove-touch capabilities and can go as high as 1100 nits when against direct sunlight, putting any visibility questions to rest. It fully covers the sRGB color gamut, which is good to see even if the laptop won’t be used for Design work.

Specifications and features

In terms of hardware, you get the Tiger lake U-series from last year. While the performance from these chips is okay, they can’t touch 2022 SKUs both in terms of efficiency and power. Still, for the purpose of the device, the CPU selection is good. The CPUs are Intel Evo-certified, which ensures better performance and stability under heavier loads. For graphics, you can use the integrated solution, but you can also employ the NVIDIA Quadro T500.

On the outside, there are some heat vents, while all I/O is hidden behind doors, to protect them from the elements. Still, you get two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, a MicroSD card reader, an Ethernet port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, an analog Serial RS-232 port, and a Nano SIMcard slot.
