ASUS ROG 2019 comparison: Mothership GZ700 vs G703 vs Zephyrus GX701 vs GX531 vs GX502 vs GU502 vs GA502 vs Strix SCAR/Hero III
So many new ASUS Republic of Gamers laptops! Which one is for you? Well, let us help you a bit.
Apparently, there isn’t an entry-level or budget ROG notebooks but if you’re on a budget and you want something more than the TUF FX505 / FX705, look no further than Strix SCAR/Hero III. Although the top configuration (see the table below) looks scary for your wallet, there is a variant even with the GeForce GTX 1050. Also, you can get it with i5-9300H which is the most budget-friendly CPU you’ll find in this article.
The Zephyrus line has 5 new series. The most budget one is Zephyrus G GA502. At the moment of writing this article, it has just one configuration – with GTX 1660 Ti and Ryzen 7 3750H.
Zephyrus M GU502 is a bit lighter (1.9 kg) and a bit thinner (18.9 mm). It comes with Intel Core processors and two M.2 slots with RAID support. You can get it with GTX 1660 Ti or RTX 2060.
If you want to jump to the next level, here’s the Zephyrus S GX502. It’s almost the same as GU502 but it has a configuration with RTX 2070.
Next on the list is GX531 with…yes, you guessed it – RTX 2080. This is the thinnest model – just 15.3~16.1mm. It has the smallest battery unit too – 60Wh.
If you don’t care that much about the weight and you prefer 17-inchers, get a Zephyrus S GX701. It weighs 2.6 kg but you’ll take advantage of RTX 2080 GPU, i7-9750H CPU, and a big 76Wh battery.
If you don’t care about weight, thickness, and your bank account, ROG Mothership GZ700 and ROG 703 are waiting for you. Core i9-9980HK, RTX 2080, 3 x SSD RAID…do we have to say anything else?
