Acer Predator 17X (FHD model) display profiles – Quality and Health impact results
Not all displays are perfect even those found in high-end notebooks so it’s our job to configure and iron out the small issues that might arise during use. But fortunately, the Acer Predator 17X’s Full HD display has little drawbacks and our custom profiles just bring the best out of the panel. In the pack below, you will find the usual Health-Guard, Office work / Web design and Gaming / Movie Nights profiles. You can read more about them here and how to use them. We also suggest reading our dedicated article regarding blue light emissions and PWM and how our custom profiles help eliminate both to certain extend.
The Acer Predator 17X has an excellent IPS without PWM, wide sRGB coverage, high maximum brightness and high contrast ratio. However, our profiles will improve the visibility in darker areas of an image/scene and will also reduce the eye strain due to the blue light emissions. The former will be much useful when playing games or watching movies as it improves the visibility where needed.
Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package is meant for Acer Predator 17X with 17.3″ LG LP173WF4-SPF2 (FHD, 1920 x 1080) AH-IPS screen and the machine can be found at Amazon.com: Acer Predator 17X.

Office Work / Web Design
This profile aims to deliver the most accurate colors possible in the sRGB gamut – the colors used on the Web. That makes it suitable for Office work and, in some cases, for Web Design. Although, the Predator 17X’s Full HD variant isn’t the perfect choice for color-sensitive work. We would advise that you pick a notebook with an IPS screen with better gamut coverage / contrast ratio. However, we successfully bring the average DeltaE 2000 (color accuracy, lower is better) down from 4.4 to 3.1. Let’s see how that looks in the two graphs below…
Gaming and Movie Nights, Health-Guard
The IPS screen of the Predator 17X is an excellent choice for gaming and multimedia due to several reasons, which we covered in our full review, but performs even better with our Gaming and Movie Nights profile. This profile lets you see more details in the darkest areas (you can see an example here).
As for the Health-Guard profile, it reduces the Blue Light impact and eliminates PWM to some extent. However, since the Predator 17X’s display doesn’t use PWM for regulating screen brightness the profile will come in handy only for reducing blue light emissions, which is just as important.
