Intel Core i7-4702MQ is a high-end processor announced on June 01, 2013 and is one of the first Haswell to be mass produced for consumption in laptops. The chip has four cores and operates at a base frequency of 2.2GHz. If a higher frequency is needed, TurboBoost allows for a limited overclocking functionality for each of the cores. If only one core is in operation, it can reach 3.2GHz. The frequency can go up to 3.1GHz for two cores. When the machine is being tasked with with a multithreaded process that requires all four cores, the frequency of the i7-4702MQ goes to 2.9GHz.
The chip is equipped with 6MB of third level cache and it’s low TDP of 37 watts makes it stand out when compared to its predecessors. It has been developed using a 22nm process, squeezing in the Intel HD Graphics 4600 controller in the package. The latter offers 20 execution units.
Intel Core i7-4702MQ is equipped with HyperThreading, AVX, AVX2, Quick Sync, Virtualization and AES-NI support, with a maximum operating temperature of 100C.
