[Comparison] AMD Ryzen 7 6800H vs Intel Core i7-11800H – negligible lead for the Ryzen

Ryzen 6000 so far hasn’t been as impressive as we would have hoped, but it would be difficult for anyone to combat Intel and their current Alder Lake dominance in the CPU market. Today we have the new Ryzen 7 6800H, which is a refined and optimized version of the Ryzen 7 5800H that runs on the 6nm Zen 3+ architecture. Going against it is the very powerful Core i7-11800H, which will for sure be a worthy opponent.

Today we are comparing the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H against the Intel Core i7-11800H.

    CPU benchmarks

The results are shockingly close, with the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H being only 3% quicker in 3D Rendering, while the lead in Photoshop was straight up meaningless, as the Intel CPU finished just 0.1 seconds faster.

Results are from the Cinebench R23 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)

    Conclusion

At the end of the day, there is more to consider than raw performance when it comes to these CPUs. Keep in mind that we are talking about laptops, which not only need to perform but have to manage battery life as well, an area where AMD has shined brightly, even with their more power-hungry H-series chips. Intel is going hard at that as well, with their 12th Gen processors so far delivering good numbers thanks to the efficiency and performance cores.
