Acer, together with Lenovo, seem to be the kings of budget machines. Today we have the Acer Aspire 3 Spin (AS3SP14-31T), a 14-inch budget convertible that’s powered by the latest of Intel’s N-series processors, which are here to replace the Celerons and Pentiums of previous generations. Design

The laptop looks like any other Aspire 3 device, with a rectangular chassis and a more boxy shape. Nevertheless, there are sharp edges and rounded corners, except for the front edge, which is chamfered for better wrist comfort. The laptop is relatively portable for a 14-inch one, with a weight of 1.54 kg and a profile of 18.9 mm.

On the sides, the I/O includes two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, with Power Delivery and DisplayPort support, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Display

Acer has picked a 14-inch 16:10 Full HD IPS display for the Aspire 3 Spin 14. It has Active Stylus support, so you can do plenty of drawing and sketching on it. The resolution is also good enough so images appear very crisp, and it’s not like there’s not an abundance of quality drawing software available.

Specifications and features

The Aspire laptop is powered by two CPU choices, either the Intel N100 or the Core i3-N305. The N100 comes with 4 cores and 4 threads, while the Core i3 offers 8 cores and 8 threads, which means that it can still output plenty of performance. They also come with integrated graphics, as you need something to power up some visuals. The units here will do a fine job in mundane and daily tasks, however, don’t expect anything special.
