Huawei officially revealed its new top-tier SoC, Kirin 950 – a more powerful and more power-efficient mobile chip

Huawei officially revealed its new top-tier SoC from the HiSilicon series – Kirin 950. It is manufactured by a 16nm FinFET technology and boasts four powerful Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and four Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8GHz. There is also an i7 coprocessor available.

According to the manufacturer, the new SoC is extremely power efficient as it increases performance by 40% while reducing energy consumption by 60% compared to its predecessor. They even gave an example stating that the battery life will be prolonged by 10 hours at normal usage when paired with a 3500 mAh battery capacity. The GPU of the mobile chip is Mali T880MP4 and Huawei says that it will provide 100% boost in performance, compared to the one in Kirin 930.
