It’s official: Bluetooth 5.0 – two times faster speed and four times wider range

Bluetooth 5.0 was officially announced and is characterized by higher speeds and wider range. It is very curious to know that despite the improvements, the energy consumption remains the same as that of Bluetooth 4.0. To be more preciese, the new version brings speed which is two times faster and range that is four times wider. This will allow your smartwatch to remain connected to your smarthpone, even when the latter is in another room, for instance.

Furthermore, this new technology will be of great benefit to IoT devices, allowing them to function in a better way. Additionally, it will facilitate the localization of various devices.

Bluetooth 5.0 will be available for OEMs this fall which means that we can expect the first mobile devices with this technology toward the end of the year or in the beginning of the next one.
