Yesterday we told you that we would closely monitor NVIDIA’s activity because we expected the American company to announce something quite intriguing. Well, today we saw the announcement of the third Pascal architecture model – GeForce GTX 1060. Most of what was said yesterday is now confirmed. The GPU offers 6 GB GDDR5 own memory, and the number of CUDA cores is 1280. Another interesting fact is that this graphics card will be solely supplied by a 6-pin connector – quite expected since the power consumption of the GPU is only 120 Watts.

The American company announced that the first units will be released on July 19th, the starting price is $249, and Founder’s Edition will be a tad more expensive – $299. We can say that this is a commendable move on part of NVIDIA against AMD’s Radeon RX 480, but we can’t claim finality of opinion until we’ve reviewed both units. According to the manufacturer the new GPU is as powerful as GeForce GTX 980 but comes at a considerably lower price – $549 for a non-reference GeForce GTX 980 vs $249 for a GeForce GTX 1060. Additionally, we expect that NVIDIA will soon upload its new GPU on its website, so that we may share with you the official specifications of the new chip.
