    Lenovo IdeaPad Y900 in-depth review

    Yep, this came out of the blue but if you connect the dots, it was the logical thing to do especially since Acer has also taken a deep dive into the high-end gaming laptop market with the Predator series. However, we are here to talk about Lenovo's latest gaming beast - the Lenovo Y900. The name somehow suggests that it's a modified version of the well-known Y700 but, on the other hand, the renamed Y series now make more sense.Anyway, the Y900 is a whole another story. It's going to be placed in the same price range as the Alienware 17, Acer Predator 17 and the ASUS ROG G752 but all these notebooks already set the bar too high and will Lenovo be able to keep up?     • Neat and refreshing design with impeccable build quality
    • Configurable LED keyboard backlight with various zones and mechanical keys for gaming
    • Effective cooling system - the fans are seperately configurable
    • Supports two M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSDs (RAID 0 is also possible)
    • Excellent image quality (high contrast, brightness, sRGB coverage and optimal native color temperature)
    • No PWM across all brightness levels
    • Convenient port placement
    • Huge 90Wh battery
    • Full range of ports including HDMI 2.0, DP, SPDIF, USB 3.1 Type-C and Thunderbolt support

    Cons

    • The display is a bit heavy, easy to twist due to the support of only one hinge and has distractingly big screen bezels
    • Unsatisfying touchpad performance
    • No G-Sync support for the built-in display
    • The fans are a bit on the noisy side
    • No switchable graphics
