Acer Predator Triton 300 (PT315-52) vs Acer Predator Triton 300 (PT315-51) – a quick refresh
Acer Predator Triton 300 (PT315-51) is still a good device with its premium all-aluminum build and great display options but it lacks GPU power. It has the look of a serious gaming device but the most powerful GPU option is the GTX 1650. It’s not a bad video card but that’s an entry-level gaming GPU which doesn’t correspond well with the aggressive look of the device.
On the other hand, the Acer Predator Triton 300 (PT315-52) has more powerful GPU variants and it can be configured with 10th gen Intel Come Lake-H processors. There are slight changes in terms of design but the rest seems untouched. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it – maybe Acer has decided to follow this moto when they were making decisions about the new notebook.

Design: almost the same look but with thinner body
The look of the 2020 version of Acer Predator Triton 300 is almost the same as its predecessor’s. The Predator signature on the lid is removed and the back grill has a new design. In addition, the profile is reduced to 19.9 mm which is 3 mm less than the older notebook – now that’s a good visual and aesthetic improvement (let’s hope that it’ll not affect the cooling in a negative way).

Keyboard-wise, things are unchanged too so we have the exact same unit as the last year’s one. The latter is a decent keyboard with 4-zone RGB backlight and on top of that, it’s very good for gaming.

Display: a 144Hz 1080p panel
At least for now, we have info only about a 1080p display with a 144Hz refresh rate. We don’t know if it’s the same panel that the PT315-51 has but if it’s like that, it’s not a bad option thanks to its good sRGB color coverage and comfortable viewing angles.

Hardware: up to Intel Core i7-10750H and NVIDIA RTX 2060
Acer Predator Triton 300 (PT315-52) comes with more powerful CPU and GPU options. This year, you can pick some of the Comet Lake-H processors like the Core i7-10750H and the Core i5-10300H. The latter is a quad-core chip with HT while the Core i7-10750H is a refreshed version of the Core i7-9750H and it’s more suitable for heavy gaming and multitasking. Now, If gaming is on your daily schedule, the RTX 2060 seems like a decent choice especially when it’s combined with a high refresh rate display and a 6-core CPU.
Connectivity and ports: an essential amount of ports for a gaming notebook
The I/O is nothing special but it’ll do the job (don’t forget the fact that this is not a high-end device) – three USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-A) ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C) port, an HDMI connector, an audio combo jack, and an RJ-45 port.
Storage and other specs: two M.2 ports, Wi-Fi 6, and the same battery unit
The PT315-52 keeps the two NVMe ports and if you want your games to load as fast as possible, the M.2 drives are the way to go in these situations. Wi-Fi 6 is here to ensure a maximum possible wireless connection when downloading the latest gaming titles (some of them are over 100GB so a fast Wi-Fi will definitely help). The battery is once again a 58.75Wh unit. Despite its rather low capacity, it provided the 2019 model of the Acer Predator Triton 300 with a pretty impressive battery life and maybe the 2020 version will be at least good as its predecessor in terms of autonomous work away from the charger.
