[Comparison] AMD Ryzen 5 4500U vs Intel Core i7-10510U – Intel faces total annihilation
In this comparison, we have the classic rumble – AMD vs Intel. We have the newer AMD Ryzen 5 4500U – part of the new Ryzen line of processors, versus the Intel Core i7-10510U which was released in 2019.
Both CPUs are a popular choice for mobile platforms and we are going to see which CPU does better in our series of tests.
More detailed specs here: AMD Ryzen 5 4500U / Intel Core i7-10510U
Specifications
In summary, the main difference between these processors is the much higher max frequency of the Core i7-10510 – 4.90 GHz versus 4.00 GHz, respectively. On the other side, the Ryzen 5 4500U has a higher Base clock (2.30 GHz vs 1.80 GHz), and more physical cores – 6 vs 4, while the Core i7-10510U has an advantage with its Hyperthreading.
| AMD Ryzen 5 4500U | Intel Core i7-10510U | |
|---|---|---|
| Cores / Threads | 6 / 6 | 4 / 8 |
| Base / Max frequency | 2.30 – 4.00 GHz | 1.80 – 4.90 GHz |
| Cache | 8 MB Cache | 8 MB Cache |
| TDP / up / down | 15W / 25W / 10W | 15W / 25W / 10W |
| Memory support | DDR4-3200MHz, LPDDR4-4266MHz | DDR4-2666MHz, LPDDR3-2133MHz |
| Integrated graphics | AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 (Ryzen 4000) | Intel UHD Graphics |
CPU Benchmark
In the first 3D rendering benchmark the Ryzen is 34% faster than the Intel and it also takes the win in our Photoshop rendering benchmark by being 12% faster.
Results are from the Cinebench 20 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)
GPU Benchmark
In the GPU department, we can see a huge difference between the two contestants. It won’t be an overstatement if we say that the RX Vega 6 inside of the Ryzen 5 is roughly two times better than its Intel counterpart.
Gaming capabilities
In terms of gaming, the Ryzen does not leave the Intel a chance. Both in Dota 2 and in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the Ryzen does a substantially better job than its competitor.

| CS:GO | HD 1080p, Low (Check settings) | HD 1080p, Medium (Check settings) | HD 1080p, MAX (Check settings) |
|---|---|---|---|
| AMD RX Vega 6 (Ryzen 4000) | 109 fps (+276%) | 76 fps | 53 fps |
| Intel UHD Graphics | 29 fps | – | – |

| DOTA 2 | HD 1080p, Low (Check settings) | HD 1080p, Normal (Check settings) | HD 1080p, High (Check settings) |
|---|---|---|---|
| AMD RX Vega 6 (Ryzen 4000) | 111 fps (+136%) | 73 fps (+181%) | 42 fps |
| Intel UHD Graphics | 47 fps | 26 fps | – |
Conclusion
All in all, in this comparison we choose Ryzen as our clear winner. Not only does the processor perform better in our CPU benchmarks, but it shows more than a two times better performance when it comes to the integrated graphics. Overall, Ryzen is the clear winner in this comparison. Furthermore, the Ryzen 5 4500U is usually found on less expensive laptops than the Intel which also makes it more cost-effective.
