Today we are putting the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX up against the Intel Core i9-10980HK.

CPU benchmarks

In our first test, which consists of a 3D Rendering benchmark with Cinebench 15, the Ryzen 9 scored higher than the Core i9 by 15%. In the second test, which is a Photoshop benchmark, the Core i9 was better, managing to finish faster and had a lead of nearly 0.7 seconds.

Conclusion

To conclude the results from above, the Ryzen 9 had a better performance in our 3D Rendering tests, scoring 15% higher. Where the Core i9 was better, however, was in our Photoshop test, where it was faster by nearly 0.7 seconds. The results were overall really close and this shows that the Ryzen 9, while not being able to beat the Core i9 completely, still shows areas where it is better. The Core i9’s performance is a testament to its power even though it uses last year’s technology. We are also eager to see if the Zen 3 architecture will help AMD to beat Intel in the laptop gaming market as well.
