[Comparison] Intel Core i7-12650H vs AMD Ryzen 7 6800U – AMD has an immovable place in the market
The CPU landscape is looking pretty crazy right now. Both Intel and AMD are bringing their A-game, with Alder Lake and Zen 3+ each having their positives and negatives. Alder Lake totally elevated performance across laptops and desktops.
Even wattages don’t really matter, as the new processors can go down and up in power depending on cooling conditions and load. That’s why today we’re putting an H-series CPU from Intel against a U-series chip from AMD, with the Core i7-12650H going against the Ryzen 7 6800U.
Today we are comparing the Intel Core i7-12650H against the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U.

CPU benchmarks
Shockingly, the Ryzen 7 6800U scores higher in Cinebench R23, with a lead of 3%. In Photoshop, the Core i7 is much quicker, finishing around 1.6 seconds faster.
Results are from the Cinebench R23 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)
GPU benchmarks
Once we move into testing the integrated graphics, we see how far AMD has advanced. The Radeon 680M is quicker in all four benchmarks that we use, with leads of 86%, 73%, and 52% in the three 3DMark benchmarks, Time Spy, Fire Strike, and Wild Life, respectively. It’s also 73% quicker in Unigine Superposition.
The results are from 3DMark Time Spy (Graphics). Higher is better.
Results are from 3DMark Fire Strike (Graphics) benchmark (higher the score, the better)
The results are from 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Unlimited. Higher is better.
Results are from the Unigine Superposition benchmark (higher the score, the better)
