[Comparison] Intel Core i7-12650H vs Intel Core i7-11370H – the Alder Lake chip can win with one hand tied behind its back

The runt of the Tiger Lake litter, the H35 CPUs have largely been unimpressive, reaching high temperatures, while not delivering the needed performance.

This might be due to their low core count since even the H45 Core i5s come with 6-cores and 12 threads. In stark contrast, Alder Lake arrives with much more cores, due to the inclusion of Performance and Efficiency cores. Today, we are here to see the power disparity between two Core i7 chips from different generations.

Today we are comparing the Intel Core i7-12650H against the Core i7-11370H.

CPU benchmarks

There is a large performance gap between the two chips as the Core i7-12650H comes with a 66%. In Photoshop, there is a huge lead in favor of the Alder Lake chip as well, finishing the benchmark first, being 2.2 seconds quicker.

Results are from the Cinebench R23 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)

To be honest, the Core i7-11370H was destined to fail from the start. However, they did manage to do one thing, and that is to create a whole new P-series with Intel’s Alder Lake, which really can take advantage of the gap between the U-series and the P-series. If you still want a Tiger Lake laptop, look for the H45 variants as they are better cooled and bring more performance. They are also going down in price, due to the arrival of Alder Lake. If you’re not loyal to Intel, you can also take a look at the Zen 3-equipped laptops, which should offer great deals, similar to Ryzen 6000’s arrival.
