[Comparison] Intel Core i7-12780P vs Core i7-11370H – 12th Gen dominance
The previous middle-ground approach by Intel when it comes to CPUs with middling power limits was the Tiger Lake H35 series, which was undoubtedly a failed attempt at making a CPU that can strike a balance between performing well and being efficient enough.
However, the Quad-core layout didn’t contribute much to performance, and we deemed them obsolete, especially compared to AMD’s Ryzen 5000HS series.
Fast forward a year, and things are totally different. Intel revealed Alder Lake, while also defending three separate lineups of processors, with the ultra-efficient U-series, the high-performing H-series, and the new middle-ground: the P-series. The power limit has dropped down a bit, from 35W to 28W, but performance has dramatically improved, due to the high core count.
Today we will see how the new Core i7-1280P stacks up against its spiritual predecessor, the Core i7-11370H.

CPU benchmarks
The new 12th Gen CPU makes very quick work of its opponent, hastily solidifying its place as the better CPU, scoring 102% higher in Cinebench 20, and being 2.4 seconds quicker in Photoshop.
Results are from the Cinebench R23 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)
Results are from our Photoshop benchmark test (the lower the score, the better)
Conclusion
If we had the neuralyzer from Men in Black, we would honestly delete the painful memories that the Tiger Lake H35 series might have caused. It’s pretty clear that Alder Lake improves on every single metric when compared to Tiger Lake. Most of the time, we would recommend going for Alder Lake, unless you find an insane deal that makes Tiger Lake appealing.
