[Comparison] Intel Core i9-13900HX vs Apple M2 Max – Great showing from both CPUs

Apple’s M2 Max SoC is ready to take the challenge to the Core i9-13900HX, however, the Apple chip might have bit off more than it can chew, as it heavily outclassed when it comes to the core and thread count, while the clock speeds are in favor of the Intel chip as well. Moving to Geekbench 5, the single Core performance of the M2 Max is astonishing, beating our the Core i9 by 2%. However, the higher core count of the Intel chip speaks for itself in the Multi-core test, with a 35% lead, which still means that the M2 Max means serious business when it comes to performing well, especially when you factor in the integrated graphics of the SoC. We have a preliminary comparison of the M2 Max’s GPU against the RTX 3080 Ti, which shows that the Apple chip has around half of the performance of the NVIDIA Graphics. An M2 Max MacBook will also be lighter than most configs with a Core i9-13900HX, as well as have longer battery life, as MacBooks are incredibly efficient.
