The RTX 4090 laptop GPU from NVIDIA is shaping up to be the most powerful laptop GPU for a while, as so far, the desktop RDNA 3 cards don’t look to be as powerful as the Ada GPUs from NVIDIA. If that’s evidence of what’s about to come to the laptop market, then NVIDIA will stay on top for a lot longer than expected. Today we’re comparing the highest-powered versions of the RTX 4090 and the RTX 3080 Ti from last year, each with a 175W power limit.

Conclusion

With this much performance, it’s almost certain that the RTX 4090 will be untouchable for the entirety of 2023 and maybe even beyond. However, it’s user base will undoubtedly be very small, and while there isn’t much competition in the absolute high-end, the budget and mid-range segments are fierce, with both AMD and NVIDIA bringing their A-game. Intel’s also somewhere in the picture, however, they still got stuff to figure out to be a real competitor in the market.
