[FPS Benchmarks] Red Dead Redemption 2 on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (130W) and RTX 3070 (85W) – the 130W contender is a lot faster
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a blockbuster developed by Rockstar Games and it was released for PC at the end of 2019. This title follows the successful formula of the GTA series – a big open world full of missions and side quests. But instead of cars, you have horses at your disposal because the game is set in 1899.
This game is based on the RAGE engine, (just like its sibling – GTA V) and the visual quality is definitely good. But at the same time, if you want maximum graphics quality by any means necessary, your only option (probably) is a high-end machine.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (130W) and RTX 3070 (85W) are fast and new video cards that are based on NVIDIA’s Ampere architecture. It’s time to see what these two are capable of when you want to ride a horse in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Verdict
Hats down, from all graphics cards that we have tested up to date, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (130W) is the first GPU that passes the 30 FPS mark on Max details (it hits 34 FPS). We can call that a respectable result. If you lower the settings the FPS will be higher, the easiest way is to switch to the High preset – the picture quality is still good and the FPS is at another level.
Some words about the 85W GPU – its performance is super close to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q (90W) which is fine for a video card with that kind of TGP.
