Design:

Hm, those are twins, aren’t they? Since the HP ProBook 440 G6 still looks modern there is nothing bad that HP has given the same aesthetics to the new one. Even the profile and weight are just like 2019 model ones – 18mm and 1.6kg.

Display: IPS and TN panels

The ProBook 440 G7 is almost like a 14″ version of HP ProBook 450 G7 and it’s not a surprise that there are two screen options – HD+ TN panel and a 1080p IPS display. Even for a 14-incher, the HD+ resolution is too low for a 2020 laptop and don’t forget the bad viewing angles. If you like this model and you want to have it, take our advice and pick the IPS option which is a much better choice with good viewing angles and colors. The display of the 440 G6 model covers only 53% of sRGB (just like the 15″ variant) – we have to check the 2020 model for improvements in this category. There is an optional touchscreen panel too.

Hardware: 10th gen Intel CPUs and optional dedicated graphics

It looks like most of this year’s ProBook laptops are configured with Intel Comet Lake CPUs which is a good thing – they offer great performance and less heat dissipation. That means you can choose from the budget-friendly Core i3-10110U up to i7-10510U which is a fast 4-core processor. There is an optional dedicated GPU from NVIDIA – the MX130 which is a decent budget performer.

If you need more memory you can pick a device with up to 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory. An M.2 slot for fast NVMe drives and a slot for 2.5″ SATA HDDs are on board as well.

Connectivity and ports: Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5

The port selection of the 15″ variant is here too – two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-A), a USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-C) one USB 2.0, an RJ-45 port, one combo audio jack, an HDMI 1.4b, and an SD card reader.

For connectivity, there is a built-in Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Other specs: spill-resistant keyboard and more

If you keep your cup with coffee close to the laptop the spill-resistant keyboard is here to “help” when there are accidental spills all over the keyboard. Two optional features – backlight for the keyboard and an IR 720p camera.
