Intel Core i3-10110U vs i3-8145U – the Comet Lake CPU wins the match

When it comes to raw CPU power, not everyone needs a 12-thread beast. Sometimes we forgot that the not so powerful CPUs can fulfill our daily (IT) needs.

That’s why we decided to compare the Core i3-10110U and i3-8145U. Comet Lake vs Whiskey Lake. The i3-10110U is the “new kid on the block” so let’s see how it stands next to the Whiskey Lake representative – the i3-8145U.

    Quick Specs

Both of them are standard 2-core and 4-thread i3 CPUs. The base frequencies are the same for both – 2.10 GHz. Core i3-10110U got a bit higher Turbo clock – 4.10 GHz to 3.90 GHz for i3-8145U. The cache size is equal for the two – 4MB. Even the TDP levels are the same – 15W/25W/10W. The max supported memory size is 64GB for both but the Core i3-10110U supports DDR4-2666, LPDDR3-2133 while for the i3-10110U we got the standard DDR4-2400, LPDDR3-2133 memory.

    CPU Benchmarks

Two versions of Acer Aspire 3 with i3-10110U and i3-8145U will help us find out which one is faster.

Nice result, i3-10110U, you are 35% faster than the i3-8145U!

    Is it clear?

Yes, definitely. We have two little ULV CPUs on the table, but one of them is better and it’s the i3-10110U – its TDP levels are the same as the i3-8145U’s ones but the performance is 35% higher.

If you are on a hunt for a small and compact notebook you should check first for a model with an i3-10110U inside.
