Intel Core i7-10510U vs i7-8565U – i7-10510U wins by a small margin
You already know the drill – every year a new generation of CPUs hit the market. Then the customers are hesitating about their choice because there are so many combinations of different hardware in the notebooks today.
Our job is to help you to make the best choice. That’s why we are comparing the Core i7-10510U (Comet Lake) and i7-8565U (Whiskey Lake).
Quick Specs
Intel is asking the same bulk price for the both ULV CPUs – $409.00 USD. That’s a good starting point because the faster one will be the better choice.
The next stop is the specs. The differences are small because the Core i7-10510U got the lead with a bit higher boost clock (4.90 GHz to 4.60 GHz) and supports a bit higher memory frequencies (DDR4-2666 vs DDR4-2400), compared to i7-8565U. That’s all, the other specs are almost identical.

CPU Benchmarks
In the end, the Core i7-10510U is 8% faster. Not bad, not great.
Results are from the Cinebench 20 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)
Results are from our Photoshop benchmark test (the lower the score, the better)
Which i7 is for you?
It all depends on the price. On paper, the Core i7-10510U is 8% faster and its (bulk) price is the same as i7-8565U’s price.
In this case, the most important thing will be the price of the particular device that you are choosing. If you are choosing between two notebooks equipped with i7-10510U and i7-8565U and the prices are close, get the one with the Core i7-10510U. If the device with the Core i7-10510U is around 10% more expensive you have to look at the other stuff like display, battery, RAM, etc.
So, not a big performance difference between the Core i7-10510U and i7-8565U. The big sales at the end of November are coming and the end price of the devices will be crucial.
