MSI GF75 Thin 10Sx vs MSI GF75 Thin – same visuals with updated hardware

If the MSI GL machines are too bulky for your liking but you want the same hardware specs in a thinner body, well, the MSI GF75 Thin 10Sx is one of the possible variants for you. That is a 17.3″ laptop that can be picked with decent mid-range hardware and high refresh rate displays. Just like a lot of new MSI laptops, the new comes with the same design compared to the 2019 version.

Under the bonnet, there are new 10th gen Intel CPUs as well as NVIDIA RTX GPUs and some new connectivity options.

Design: the same decently-sized 17-incher

Yes, as you can see, no visual changes in terms of design. Still, this kind of look is good enough for a 2020 machine with big display – slim bezels, 23.1mm profile, and 2.30 kg of weight which is pretty acceptable.

Display: 120Hz and 144Hz panels

At least on paper, the MSI GF75 Thin 10Sx has the same display options like the new GL75 10Sx. The base unit is a 120Hz panel and if you need something better (probably for fast-paced games) there is a 144Hz display variant that will cost you a bit more money.

Hardware: 10th gen Intel CPUs and up to RTX 2060

No surprises here, just like a lot of new 2020 laptops, the MSI GF75 Thin 10Sx can be picked with up to a 6-core processor like the Intel Core i7-10750H that has 12 threads thanks to Hyperthreading, a 45W TDP,  2.60 GHz base frequency, and it can boost up to 5Ghz (single-core boost).

In terms of graphics options, this year you can choose between NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1650, and the all-new GTX 1650 Ti with GDDR6. The RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 Ti seem like a good choice if you pick the 144Hz display.

Connectivity and ports: only the essentials

The port selection is the bare minimum for a modern gaming laptop – a USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type-C) port, three USB 3.2 Gen1 (Type-A) ports, an RJ45 port, an HDMI connector, a mic-in jack, and an audio jack.

Storage and other specs: three keyboard units, two storage options, and Wi-Fi 6

Interestingly enough, you can choose between three keyboards – a per-key RGB backlight unit, a single-color one (red color, look at the provided picture below), and a “Full-Size Keyboard” (MSI specs, probably this one comes without a backlight). If you tend to play games at night, it’s a good idea to pick at least the single-color keyboard. Storage-wise, there are two slots – one NVMe for fast drives and a 2.5″ SATA one for regular SSD or HDDs. Additionally, for connectivity, we have Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 as well.
