NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (130W) vs RTX 3070 (95W) – the bigger GPU is faster but the 95W version is a decent performer too
The NVIDIA Ampere mobile GPUs are already on the market. As always, the new ones come with better performance compared to the previous generation (in our case – Turing). Thanks to the different TGP versions of the new video cards there is something for everyone.
That’s why we are going to compare the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (130W) and GeForce RTX 3070 (95W). The 130W GPU is the most powerful while the 95W variant is placed in the middle of the pack (there is an 85W version as well).
As you may already guess, the GeForce RTX 3070 (130W) offers higher frequencies and more performance while the 95W sibling is more efficient while keeping the FPS at high levels as well.

Verdict
Sure, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (130W) is faster but the 95W variant shows some impressive performance gains over the last generation as well. Yes, this is a slower GPU compared to the 130W offering but not by much. The overall performance difference is around 10%.
If money isn’t a problem then the GeForce RTX 3070 (130W) will give you great performance and don’t forget to pick a machine with good cooling too. If you want to spend less money, the GeForce RTX 3070 (95W) is a decent choice as well – its performance isn’t too far behind the 130W sibling and the end price is lower.
