How to open Dell Pro 14 Plus (PB14250) – disassembly and upgrade options
Opening the Dell Pro 14 Plus (PB14250)
- Power down the Dell Pro 14 Plus (PB14250) and unplug any connected cables.
- Loosen the eight captive JIS-1 screws securing the bottom plate. These screws will remain attached to the panel, reducing the chance of misplacement.
- Using a thin plastic pry tool, start between the hinges to release the clips along the edges. Carefully work your way around the chassis to lift off the bottom panel.
Battery and Cooling
- The 55 Wh Li-ion battery spans the laptop’s front edge. To remove it, gently pull the yellow tab vertically to disconnect the cable, then undo the four captive screws holding the battery in place. Lift the battery carefully out of the chassis.
- The cooling system features a single large blower fan drawing air through two fin stacks linked by a curved heat pipe. A foam gasket channels airflow efficiently, while a slim copper strip helps spread heat around the CPU area.
Memory and Storage Upgrades
- The laptop uses soldered LPDDR5X memory, available in configurations up to 32GB. RAM upgrades are not possible due to the soldered design.
- Storage is handled by a single M.2 2230 slot, preinstalled with a 512GB Kioxia BG6 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD. The black bracket covering the SSD functions as both EMI shield and heatsink—reinstall it after any drive upgrade. There are no secondary NVMe slots or 2.5-inch bays, so plan capacity accordingly.

Wireless and Additional Components
- The Wi-Fi 6E card is located just below the fan and can be easily replaced by removing a single screw. A vacant header for an optional WWAN/SIM reader is present near the Wi-Fi card but unused on our test unit.
- Beneath the keyboard deck, the touchpad PCB, fingerprint reader, and NFC module are connected via ribbon cables, allowing straightforward servicing if needed.
