How to open Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 9 (15, Intel) – disassembly and upgrade options


Opening the Device

  1. Undo the 10 Torx-head screws securing the bottom panel.
  2. Place a thin plastic tool between the plate and the base to pry the back.
  3. Pop the top two corners and then pry the sides and the front to remove the bottom panel.

Battery Removal

  1. Pull out the battery connector from the mainboard.
  2. Undo the 2 Phillips-head screws securing the battery.
  3. Lift the battery to remove it from the device.

Note: The notebook has a 47Wh battery, providing approximately 8 hours of video playback.


Memory Information

Note: The RAM is soldered along with the metal cap above the chips. The device can be configured with 8GB in single-channel mode or 16GB of LPDDR5-5200MHz memory in dual-channel mode.

Storage Upgrade

  1. The device offers 128GB of UFS 3.1 for storage or one M.2 slot for 2242 Gen 4 SSDs.
  2. If your device has an NVMe SSD, there will be a thermal pad beneath it.
  3. Remove the existing SSD and thermal pad, if present, and install the new SSD in the slot.
