How to open Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 Gen 9 (14″ AMD) – disassembly and upgrade options


    Opening the Device

    1. Undo the six Torx-head screws securing the bottom panel.
    2. Raise the two sections behind the hinge cover near the top two corners.
    3. Use a thin plastic tool to pop the sides and the front.
    4. Fully pry the back to remove the bottom panel.

    Battery Removal

    1. Unplug the battery connector from the mainboard.
    2. Undo the 4 Phillips-head screws securing the battery.
    3. Untangle the speaker cable around the battery housing.
    4. Lift the battery to remove it from the device.

    Note: The laptop has an optional 57Wh battery, with the default version being a 47Wh model. The capacity provides approximately 11 hours of video playback.


    Memory Information

    Note: The RAM is soldered. The device can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x-6400MHz RAM in dual-channel mode.

    Storage Upgrade

    1. Locate the single M.2 slot compatible with 2242 Gen 4 SSDs.
    2. Remove the preinstalled SSD and the thermal pad below it, if present.
    3. Install the new SSD in the slot.
