Thin and Light, Mainstream

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 (15″, Gen 10)

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 (15”, Gen 10) is a 15.3″ laptop offering a good mix of portability and performance, aimed at users needing something that can handle everyday computing and some more intensive tasks. It runs on AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors, with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage for a smooth experience across most workloads. The display options include a standard WUXGA or a higher-end 2.5K OLED, which provides solid brightness and color for media consumption. Weighing 1.49kg, it’s portable, and the battery should last a decent while with its 70Wh capacity.

The laptop also includes a range of ports and modern connectivity options, although they aren’t the fastest – the HDMI port is the TMDS variant (not a real 2.1), and the USB ports are not very fast. If you don’t use it for professional work, you’ll probably never notice that.

Starting at 699€ ($775), it’s set to be available in October 2024.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 (13”, Gen 10) is a more compact option for those prioritizing portability. With a 13.3″ WUXGA display, this model is a lightweight (1.15kg) alternative to the 15” version, though it still comes with enough power for most daily tasks thanks to AMD Ryzen 7000 processors and up to 16GB of RAM. Storage goes up to 1TB SSD, providing enough space for personal or professional use.

The battery is smaller at 54.7Whr but should last through a workday. With a decent range of ports and connectivity options like Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, this model offers a balanced approach for users who want performance in a smaller, more portable form factor.

The 13″ model is priced at the same value as the 15-inch one, starting from 699€ ($775). It’s also expected to be available starting in October 2024.
