Among the most noteworthy features of this ultrabook are its 13.3-inch 2K IPS display (2560 x 1440 pixels), ultra-low-voltage Intel Core 5Y10C processor, 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 256GB of SSD storage… Curious to learn more? Read on then.

Design and construction

As you might expect from a device which costs only $548.99 and has the above hardware, the engineers must have cut some corners. Indeed, this can be clearly seen in the design department – the construction is pretty simplistic with no fancy aspects. The lid carries the “livefan” logo and nothing more.

As you may see, Livefan S1 resembles the MacBook sort of devices. And so the interior carries a keyboard and touchpad which seem to be normal for the price range. Additionally, the sides carry a good number of connectivity options for an ultrabook – 1 x USB 3.0 + 1 x USB 2.0, Micro HDMI slot, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type C.

Hardware and Software

Alright, this is where the notebook becomes really attractive. One of the main concerns when purchasing an ultrabook is as regards the battery life it has to offer. Certainly, there are these design limitations but there is also a way around it. The Livefan S1 uses an ultra-low-voltage Intel Core 5Y10C processor which is quite gentle on the battery. Of course, we have not conducted any tests but the manufacturer claims that the ultrabook can provide you with up to 6 hours of video playback.

Additionally, this computer uses an Intel HD Graphics 5300 GPU which is not that demanding and does not drain the battery that much. What’s even more appealing to see in an ultrabook costing this much is the 256GB SSD. The latter ensures super fast operation of some typically time-consuming tasks. Furthermore, snappy operation is also brought to you by the available 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM.

Well, it does not end there. You will also be presented with a pre-installed Windows 10. Convenient, isn’t it? No need to bother paying more for a new OS and spending time to install it. It’s been done for you!
