[Comparison] ASUS Chromebook Flip C436 vs Chromebook Flip C434 – what’s new?

A new Chromebook is coming from ASUS – the Flip C436. ASUS already showed this great-looking successor of C434. Chrome devices are all about mobility, lightweight body, and transforming abilities thanks to the 360-degree hinges. The current model (Chromebook Flip C436 isn’t released yet) is still a good-looking and snappy device (a very popular also). The new one will bring a slightly refreshed design, more powerful CPUs, and some other built-in goodies. The C436 is a Project Athena certified device.

Both models don’t look that different when they are placed side by side so let’s check where are the differences.

Design: small differences

There are no big changes design-wise and since the current model looks great – it’s not a problem. The new one has the same magnesium alloy body but it’s lighter than its predecessor – 1.1kg (C434 weighs 1.45kg). This will be a perfect on-the-go notebook.

Hardware: more powerful Comet Lake processors

The Flip C436 will feature more powerful Comet Lake CPUs like i7-10510U or i5-10210U alongside Intel UHD Graphics. This is a big performance bump compared to the Amber Lake CPUs in the current-gen model. The new one will have an M.2 slot (to meet Project Athena requirements) so you can expect better snappiness – C434 has an eMMC storage.

Connectivity and ports: Wi-Fi 6 onboard

Wi-Fi 6 will bring faster wireless speeds, Bluetooth 5.0 will be available too. The port selection looks decent for such a small and compact machine – two USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-C), an audio combo jack, and a microSD card slot.

Other specs: full-sized keyboard new display options

Just like the C434 variant, the keyboard of C436 will be a full-sized backlit one with a bit reduced key travel to 1.2mm (1.4mm for the current model). The good news is that the TouchPad is bigger so that will bring more comfort when using it.

The C436 will feature a 14″ 1080p panel with 100% sRGB coverage, slim bezels and 85% screen-to-body ratio.
