First impressions of Acer Aspire V15 (V5-591G) – a stylish machine with impressive performance
The Aspire Nitro line from Acer has always been a great choice for users looking for good performance at affordable prices. Although the model we’re currently talking about doesn’t exactly belong to the Nitro line, it resembles the devices to both design and performance.
After Acer announced their Predator gaming series it became clear that Nitro models won’t be the Taiwanese manufacturer’s top gaming notebooks. Despite that, the devices from the Aspire V15 series have always kept a good balance between high-end hardware and stylish design and V5-591G is a perfect example for that.
Design
Aspire V15 (V5-591G) is manufactured with nanoimprint lithography, which definitely makes its appearance even more stylish. This technology adds a specific finish to the housing of V5-591G. When looking at it from different angles you are able to see various textures that resemble some sort of “matrix” when viewed from a distance. Moreover, the device has an aluminum construction for increased durability.
On the left side of the notebook, we see two USB 3.0 ports, one of which could be used to charge your mobile device, even when your laptop isn’t on. Alongside them, we find an Ethernet LAN port as well as VGA and HDMI connectors. A USB 2.0 port and DC charging port are located on the right side.
Moving on to the interior where the white LED keyboard backlight makes an impression. It is easily noticeable and really stands out from the dark paint of the notebook. Anyway, the keyboard is very comfortable to use, while the “Precision Touchpad”, as Acer calls it, is just a pleasure to use.
The power button is located above the NumPad area and near the Dolby Audio engraving, assuring for high-quality sound. The loudspeakers are found at the front part of the laptop and this way provide resulting in clearer and louder sound.
Hardware
As we mentioned earlier, the performance of the device is as close as it can get to the Nitro models. V5-591G boasts Intel’s powerful Core-i7-6700HQ CPU and a gaming GPU – GeForce GTX 950M (4GB DDR3). Moreover, the model, which we’re using, has 32GB of RAM as well as a 128GB M.2 SSD (we’re going to publish an in-depth look at the internals of the device in a separate article).
