Hands-on the ThL 5000 – 5-inch screen, 8-core CPU and 5000 mAh battery at an affordable price
Have you ever heard for ThL? Its full name is Technology-happy-life and it’s a Chinese company, which is popular for its phones. Тhere are some very interesting devices in ThL’s family and one of them is ThL 5000. We decided to make a hands on review, which also comprises a detailed video review. In the video, my colleague George shows us the phone’s capabilities. Below you can also see our first impressions on the model.
Battery
This is the most lucrative component in the phone, without a doubt. We are talking about 5000 mAh capacity, which is superb. We haven’t finished our tests yet, but we can share a part of them. For example, in our Wi-Fi browsing test, ThL 5000 endured 923 minutes – amazing result. With one charge, you can also watch a video for 683 minutes, which isn’t a record by any means, but it is still a great result. You can find more information and tests in our upcoming review.
Processor
ThL 5000 is equipped with MediaTek MT6592, which is not a high-end processor, but is relatively good for smooth work with the device. There are also 2GB of RAM and Mali-450 GPU. In AnTuTu 5 benchmark, the phone achieved a good result for amid-ranger– 32 278 points. The other benchmark results were also very good, but we will share them soon enough.
Screen
For this price range you may be expecting to see an HD resolution, but here we have a Full HD screen, just like a high-class handset. We’re still testing whether it has screen flickering, its maximum level of brightness and color reproduction, but the IPS technology and the protection, provided by Gorilla Glass 3 come as a bonus with the ThL 5000.
Camera
The camera is another major feature. It’s has 13 MP Sony IMX135 sensor with auto focus and LED flash. We’re still testing it, but currently you can see some photos below. At the front side you’ll find a 5MP camera, which sounds good for selfie maniacs.
Design
The phone is not so thin and light, but keep in mind that it has 5000 mAh battery, so the thickness of 10.1 mm. and weight of 165 grams is pretty normal. In other words, the device has an acceptable size for a 5-incher. The back cover is plastic and you can remove it easily, but this does not apply to the battery. There are also two mini SIM slots and another one for microSD memory card.
Software
The operating system is Android 4.4 KitKat, but ThL has changed its app’s icon appearance. You can see it in the picture below. There are also some pre-installed apps, but you’ll have more information about them soon in our detailed review.
