How to open Lenovo Yoga 7i (14″, 2023) – disassembly and upgrade options

Unfortunately, the upgrade situation with the Lenovo Yoga 7i (14″, 2023) is not great. It does not have SODIMM slots for memory expansion, while the single storage slot only fits 42mm drives.

1. Remove the bottom plate

To access this notebook’s internals, you need to undo a total of 7 Torx-head screws. After that, pry the bottom panel with a plastic tool, starting from the front.


2. Remove the battery

Here, you can see a 71Wh battery pack. It lasts for more than 14 hours of Web browsing, or 9 hours and 30 minutes of video playback. To remove it, unplug the battery connector, and undo the three Phillips-head screws, holding the battery in place.


3. Upgrade memory and storage

Memory-wise, there are either 8, or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, working at 5200MHz. Unfortunately, it is soldered to the motherboard. On the bright side, you get one M.2 PCIe x4 slot, which fits 42mm Gen 4 SSDs.


4. Cooling system

And for cooling, you’ll find two heat pipes, connected to a heat sink, where a single fan blows the heat away. Moreover, there is a heat spreader, that manages the temperatures of the VRMs.
