How to open MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo (A13M) – disassembly and upgrade options

1. Removing the Bottom Panel

– Ensure that the laptop is powered off and disconnected from any external power source.
– Turn the laptop upside down to access the bottom.
– Unscrew the 9 Phillips-head screws that are keeping the bottom panel in place.
– Start prying from the slight gap between the top two corners using a plastic pry tool. Work your way around the edges carefully to release any clips or catches.
– After all edges are free, lift off the bottom panel to access the internal components.

2. Battery Removal

– Before proceeding with other internal components, it’s always recommended to disconnect the battery.
– Gently pull out the battery connector from the mainboard to disconnect it.
– Unscrew the 6 Phillips-head screws securing the battery.
– Lift and remove the battery from its slot.

3. Storage Upgrade/Replacement

– The laptop features a single M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for storage.
– The pre-installed SSD comes with a big thermal pad on its underside to aid in heat dissipation.
– If you wish to replace or upgrade the SSD, simply unscrew it from its slot, and replace with a new one. Ensure the new SSD is securely screwed in place, and the thermal pad is correctly positioned.

4. Memory (RAM)

– The RAM in this model is soldered onto the motherboard, meaning it cannot be upgraded or replaced.
– The device can have up to 32GB of LPDDR5-4800MHz memory, which should suffice for most tasks.

5. Cooling System

– The cooling solution in the MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo is made up of a single fan and three heat pipes.
– Should you need to clean the fan or replace the thermal paste, ensure the laptop is disconnected from any power source. Be cautious when detaching any connectors or unscrewing components related to the cooling system.
Note: Always handle internal components with care. When reassembling, double-check all connectors and ensure screws are tightly fastened. If unsure about any step or if you feel uncomfortable disassembling the laptop, consider seeking professional help.
