HP Envy 13 (13-aq0000) is a great compact laptop with nice design, long battery life and decent performance at the same time. The notebook features a slim profile and thin bezels around the panel. The real jewel in the crown is its superb 13.3″ display.
Our test machine comes with the 1080p IPS variant – there is a 4K option too but it adds a lot of $’s in the end price of the device (but if you need more screen space and if money isn’t a problem go for it, it’s a good one too). Let’s go back to our Full HD IPS touchscreen display – its model number is AUO AUO572D and it has more than comfortable viewing angles – you can lay back on your chair and there is no visible color shift in this situation.
Another good spec is the sRGB color coverage – it’s 95% which is a good result and you can expect vivid color while browsing the Web or watching high-quality movies on this display. In our test lab, we were impressed with the out of the box color accuracy of the panel – it’s rather rare to find a display with a 3.1 average dE score without any calibration. That means that you can use it straight without worries if you’ll use it for games or Web browsing. But there is always space for improvement and we will explain this in the following sentences.
If you work in a printing house or you are a graphics designer (or you just want to see more realistic colors) you already know that you need a display with an average dE lower (or at least equal) than 2.0. Yes, and everything below 1.0 is counting for a superb panel. That’s the case with our small but capable display, yes, it’s a great one even without calibration, but if you apply our “Gaming and Web Design” profiles it turns into a “color-accurate monster” with a score of 0.8! With the collaboration between our profile and this great panel, you can enjoy accurate and realistic colors during work or even at home while watching your favorite movies or you just browse your photo collection.
So, the panel is one of the best that we have tested so far and our profile improves its color accuracy even more and you can use it for long hours because the display is completely out of PWM usage for brightness adjustment.

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.
Design and Gaming
This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.
THealth-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.
