HP Envy x360 13 (13-bf0000): Full Specs / In-depth Review

4 reasons to BUY the HP Envy x360 13 (13-bf0000)

1. Design and build quality

The laptop is entirely made from metal, aluminum to be specific. This gives it a fair amount of rigidity and sturdiness as both the lid and the base are hefty and resistant to flex. As for the design, the sides and the front all have rounded edges and corners, while the back is sharper. The Envy 13 is kept pretty light, weighing only 1.30 kg and having a profile of 16.1 mm.

2. Battery life

The Envy’s 66.5Wh battery lasts for 17 hours and 51 minutes of Web browsing, or 17 hours and 13 minutes of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. If you use the laptop with higher brightness or with multiple open apps you will see worse real-life results, however, a whole day of battery is still more than doable.

3. Display quality

There are three 13.3-inch displays to pick from, with two IPS and one OLED option. The two IPS panels can come with either FHD+ or QHD+ resolution, while the OLED panel is locked at 2.8K (2880 x 1800p). We tested the FHD+ IPS panel, which comes with excellent viewing angles and gets fairly bright, maxing out at 413 nits. It also shows 98% sRGB coverage, so you can do color-sensitive work on it.

Furthermore, the color accuracy of the panel is great once we use our Design and Gaming profile, lowering the dE value from 2.8 to 0.8. Here are our test results with the stock settings (left) and with our profile applied (right).

In addition to receiving efficient and health-friendly profiles, by buying LaptopMedia's products you also support the development of our labs, where we test devices in order to produce the most objective reviews possible.

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.

4. I/O

The port selection shouldn’t be this good on a laptop this small. The device offers two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports with a jaw mechanism, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

1 reason NOT to buy the HP Envy x360 13 (13-bf0000)

1. Upgradeability

Unfortunately, the upgradeability isn’t as great as everything else on the device, however, we would consider it a fair trade. You can get up to 16GB of soldered LPDDR4x memory, along with one SSD slot that fits both Gen 3 and Gen 4 SSDs.

Here is our detailed teardown video, which shows how to access the inside of the HP Envy x360 13 (13-bf0000).
