The gap between mid and high-end devices is growing ever smaller since there are a lot of new models coming out that position themselves in that in-between. The newest addition to the segment of the market comes from Huawei and it’s called G8. The model features specs and capabilities we’re used to seeing in high-end devices, while also having no flaws, at least at first sight. 5.5-inch Full HD screen and 13MP camera

Huawei G8 has a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display with 441 ppi, resulting in highly detailed images. The screen also uses an IPS panel leading to bright and vivid colors and excellent viewing angles. 2.5D glass has been used in the manufacturing of the display. Not only does it have a pleasing shape with curves around the edges, but it is also protected from cracks and scratches.

There’s a 13MP rear camera with double LED flash at the back side of Huawei G8. The camera uses a Sony’s IMX278 sensor and features the OIS technology as well as f/2.0 aperture, which helps you capture better photos in low light conditions. Furthermore, you’ll find tons of features, shooting modes and manual settings in the camera menu. The phone also has a 5MP front-facing cam.

8-core Snapdragon 615 and fingerprint sensor

Huawei G8 sports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC, which boasts eight Cortex-A53 cores, four of which are clocked at 1.5 GHz, while the other at 1.2GHz. The mobile chip also integrates the Adreno 405 GPU and has 3GB of RAM. The phone has 32GB of internal storage, but also features a microSD memory card, so no worries there.

At the back of the phone, you’ll find a fingerprint sensor. According to the manufacturer, it should be able to recognize fingerprints in a mere 0.5 seconds thanks to improved tech. Furthermore, the sensor will improve its responsiveness every time you use it to unlock your device. The fingerprint sensor also offers a couple of additional features upon press and hold. For example, you can answer calls, stop alarms, etc.

Metal construction, Android 5.1 Lollipop and 3000mAh battery

index-bg6
Huawei G8 has a very sleek and stylish appearance, as the bulk of the device (90%) is made out of metal. The phone measures at 7.5 mm thick and 165 grams.

Android 5.1 Lollipop is the version of the OS running the show, but we see Huawei’s custom UI on top of it. It brings a lot of pre-installed apps and neat features to the table, so you won’t be bored for a sec.

Another thing worth mentioning is the capacity of the battery. Huawei G8 sports a 3000 mAh unit, which should be able to provide long battery life, despite the powerful hardware. There isn’t any official information about its durability yet, but we’ll make sure to put it through our tests if we get our hands on the device.
